Although I love the Summer months, I by far love this time of year for baking and cooking. The warmth of a comforting bowl of soup, a big pan of Lasagna and of course, all the recipes with apples and pumpkins are top on my list.

Today we are  sharing one of the most amazing recipes from Apple Week. Truly my friends, you need to run (or jump in your car) and go as fast as you can to the Apple Orchard or grocery store and grab yourself some apples and apple juice. Because this Fried Apples Recipe tastes exactly like the ones you get at Cracker Barrel Restaurant.

Growing up my Mom always made Fried Apples, but the ones she made were actually fried in butter and brown sugar. And although they were delicious, I’m sure they weren’t the best for us. Not having another recipe to use, I duplicated the way she served them for many, many years.

I used golden delicious apples in this recipe, but I think you could certainly use your favorite apple. Check out our Guide to Apples and their uses.

After trying this recipe, there is no going back to my Mom’s recipe for fried apples. And re-creating the Fried Apple Recipe that Cracker Barrel Restaurant serves, that is definitely a win-win for me!

I changed the original recipe a bit, and also made them in our cast iron skillet. They will work just fine in a regular skillet too. The amount of Apple Pie Spice is perfect, not too overwhelming.

We served these Fried Apples as a side dish, but I’m also looking forward to a bowl of ice cream tonight with the apples piled high and a drizzle of caramel sauce. I’m a sucker for caramel and apples together, are you?
